Biography

Jawaharlal Nehru, 1889–1964, took part in the major Congress campaigns and spent years in British prisons. At the 1929 Lahore session of Congress he moved the resolution for complete independence, Purna Swaraj. On 15 August 1947 he became the first prime minister of independent India. The pin is Prayagraj, formerly Allahabad, his birthplace. The 1929 session was in Lahore, which is already crowded with other markers, so it stays in the text.
